Alamo Heights 7on7 Football is rooted in a rich tradition dating back to 1998, with tournament play beginning in 2003.
The Texas State 7on7 Association, a non-profit formed by Texas high school football coaches to promote the development of the passing game, launched the State Tournament format in 1998. Alamo Heights began tournament play in 2003. In the past 16 years, Alamo Heights has been one of only 18 teams (from a pool of about 400) to reach the state tournaments 12 times.
Summer 2018
Motivated by narrowly-missed opportunities in previous years, the 2018 summer season was one of the best for Alamo Heights. Strong leadership and committed seniors drove one of the more dominant performances, for both varsity and sub-varsity teams. The Mules marched through regular season without a loss and advanced to the State Tournament for the 12th time in 16 years. Driven to the consolation bracket by a tough loss to Plano East, AH advanced to the quarterfinals, suffering a 2-point heartbreaker to eventual-champion Lubbock Coronado. The experience helped propel the Mules back into the second-round of the playoffs in the fall.
Summer 2017
With a young team, Alamo Heights showed strong efforts at the state qualifying tournaments, beating experienced teams like Copperas Cove and Austin Reagan. A tough loss in the qualifier semifinals to Cedar Ridge cut short the summer season.
Summer 2016
The Mules continued the momentum from previous summers with a strong showing in pool play at the State Tournament. In a stressful first-round consolation playoff game, the Mules fell by 3 points to eventual consolation champion Ellison. The team kept the momentum going into the fall, posting a 10-2 record and two rounds of playoff games.
Summer 2015
Qualifying for their 10th trip to the State 7on7 Tournament, the Mules powered through a 4OT victory over Fourney in the first round of the consolation bracket. Alamo Heights showed incredible grit during the fall (posting one of the highest regular-season point totals) before losing a twisted tie-breaker in the fall to miss the playoffs.
Summer 2014
Alamo Heights, participating in the State Tournament, pushed to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket, with victories over stalwarts such as Katy Cinco Ranch, before losing to College Station in an exhausting game. The Mules leveraged this summertime success to a strong showing in the Fall, advancing to the area finals.
Summer 2013
With a relatively new team, the Mules learned how to fight together but lost a tough state qualifier in Marble Falls. Alamo Heights continued to gain experience throughout the summer and ultimately posted 11 wins in the Fall football season, losing a tough Regional Finals game at Texas State.
Summer 2012
A senior-laden team qualified the Mules for the state tournament in College Station, but fierce opposition ended the tournament trip early. Alamo Heights went 8-3 in the Fall, losing a tough first-round match.

Alamo Heights pushed through another tough summer but clawed back in the fall with another 12-game season, losing in the second round of the playoffs.
Summer 2007
With a young team, Alamo Heights missed the State Tournament for the first time since joining tournament play. The Mules rebounded in the Fall with another 10-win season and second-round playoff appearance.
Summer 2006
Returning to the State Tournament, the Mules advanced to the second round of the championship bracket, experiencing their first victory in playoff-bracket play before being knocked out by Cy Falls. The unprecedented success continued into the Fall, where Alamo Heights posted a 14-1 record, capturing the first State Football Championship for the school.
Summer 2005
Alamo Heights qualified for the State Tournament for the third time in three tries, losing this time in the consolation bracket. The Mules stayed on track in the Fall, advancing to the second round for the third-straight season.
Summer 2004
Once again, the Mules advanced to the Championship Bracket of the State Tournament. This time, the Mules defeated Victoria in an overtime game, securing advancement with a last-second interception to clinch the victory. Despite losing a significant number of starters to graduation, the Mules advanced to the Regional Semifinals in the Fall.
Summer 2003
The Mules advanced to the Championship Bracket of the State Tournament, keyed by a decisive victory over Southlake Carroll, the reigning State 5A Div. 1 Football Champions. Following this landmark 7on7 season, the Mules advanced to the State 4A Semifinals for the first time in school history.
